Simplified Guide to the Industrial Accident Compensation Application Process in Korea

Industrial accidents refer to situations where workers are injured or fall ill while on the job, and the system in place allows them to apply for compensation for the resulting damages. As of 2025, the process has been simplified, and online applications are now available. Please refer to the latest information and follow the steps below.

① Industrial Accident Occurrence and Diagnosis

If an accident or illness occurs while on the job, seek immediate medical treatment and obtain a medical certificate from a healthcare facility.

Report the accident to your employer (company) immediately.

② Reporting to the Company (Workplace) and "Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service(KLWC)"

Generally, the company confirms the occurrence of the industrial accident and reports it to KLWC.

If the company refuses to report, the worker may apply directly to KLWC.

③ Submission of the Workers' Compensation Insurance Benefits Claim Form and Required Documents

Prepare the necessary documents, such as the medical treatment benefit claim form, medical certificate, and accident report, and submit them to KLWC.

Submission methods vary:

Online (KLWC, Ministry of Employment and Labor's Work-Related Injury Insurance website)

In-person visit, mail, fax, etc.

If the claim is denied, an appeal or administrative litigation may be filed.

⑥ Application Deadline
